Combining techniques into one work is how I create art as I like to explore how I can learn a medium and then bend it to my will. Eventually journeying to a point in that technique or medium where I feel that there is something to be discovered is how my projects generally come about.  My section of Found Bound books is really where I started as a bookbinder. I was intrigued by the idea of making my own sketchbooks, modifying a collection of pages into something that fit exactly how I sketched and took notes. Starting with a pre-fabricated cover paper was an easy way to experiment with the customized sketchbook concept, from this I was able to perfect my ideal stitching methods. I could move on to self-designed cover patterns and new techniques for making them. In most of the images shown, I am looking at something particular that connects the books pictured. Whether it is scale, hand created binding patterns, designed covers, or amount of pages, I am looking at all aspects of the book and how I can make it my own.
